---
CANADA 41,651,700
Canada grew by 47,000 in the last quarter or 0.1%
Alberta is again the fastest growing province , gaining 19,000+
Ontario only grew by 1,700, and 2,600 since January 1.
British Columbia actually lost people (-2,100)
This is the second quarter than Canada's population barely grew at all. In 2024, the Government changed the temporary foreign worker/student program, which drastically reduces the number of non-permanent migrants. It also should be known that the number of South Asians is decreasing, after arriving in record numbers for the past 3 years, as their temporary visas for school and work are expiring in many cases.
I view this as a positive development, as the country admitted far too many people in the past three years, and the infrastructure, schools, health care, and housing could not accommodate them.
