One layout I'd like to see Winnipeg look into in the future would be a fused grid. This is used in the Saddleridge area of Calgary, which combines the density and walkability of a grid, along with the privacy, traffic calming, and green space in suburban areas. What I like is that Calgary combines it with its quadrant city planning. It's not a perfect idea, but I think it could work well here. It could be both retrofitted into old areas, or it could be considered when creating new suburbs.
