Urban gondolas are another underutilized possibility for deep urban "last-mile" transport.
- Cheap (cable and post, no heavy infrastructure)
- Grade separated
- Year round indoor
- Ultra-high frequency
And at 30km/h they're moderate speed. For congested downtown areas, this may even beat a bus when averaged including stoplights. The logic is, expedite "people-movers" within the downtown sector. Like a "network within a network". Then terminate at transit spots around the outer ring of the downtown sector where transfers occur into the city-wide transit network (bus). It ties in well with skywalks too.
