Yeah, they were ganging up on me, nitpicking my posts for stupid stuff which they didn't demand of other posters who were part of the same hive mind.
What ended it for me was my relaying something I heard on the radio, about illegal border crossings into Canada increasing sharply. I didn't provide a link to a news story because I was on my phone at the time. A whole bunch of them piled onto me including mods for racist dogwhistling, xenophobia, conspiracy theories, blablabla. The usual stuff. A few hours later I posted an article about it from Radio-Canada, and one of them even said that it didn't count because it was in French! Anyway I told them to go to hell in not-so-polite terms. That got me suspended (not banned) and after that I decided I'd had enough.
Of course multiple comments about public figures and even fellow SSP posters being racists or Nazis, even if unsubstantiated and just drive-bys, are totally tolerated on there. You just have to part of the right clan.
I've known enough schoolyard bullies in my life to recognize the pattern. When some of the bullies become the designated recess monitors and start favouring the other bullies with their power, it's time to leave.
