Here's a biz for you @lio45 and @Acajacques
One-Wall
A single paywall service that gives you access to all paywalled news outlets online.
Globe
Torstar
Bloomberg
Financial Post
All of them. One subscription.
Subscribing to each individual news outlet to read their articles isn't feasible. You'd have like 20 subscriptions paying $100's per month. Plus, naturally, you often want to read a story on a one-off basis, due to the article itself, not the publisher. Existing biz models are stupid. Ads don't work.
So One-Wall would attempt to pool all the publishers into a single subscription, that shares the proceeds amongst all news outlets, taking a small rake for itself at the end.
Effectively, you'd bring more subscribers onto each publisher, allowing them to succeed at a lower subscription rate, due to scale. In some ways, it the model parallel's Netflix's, kinda. IE: subscribe once for access to all movie rentals, vs renting individually. Just in this case, for news.
Boat load of money to be made there honestly.
