Trump benefits greatly because this further distracts from Epstein, escalates MAGA sympathy, enrages MAGA vengeance, and villainizes the left to pretext a crackdown on the left: "they took our guy, we must take their guns and rule them, even purge them". Even without evidence, they'll just pin it on the left anyway.
So Trump gains a lot from this.
But is he insane enough to take out his long standing inner circle? I don't know. That's a stretch. He's a pathological liar, a bully, a con man, a conquistador; but this psychopathic of a monster? I still can't really see it.
